We see that Dexter’s plan for the “vacation” is to target Sergeant Zoey Kruger, a police officer from the nearby Pembroke Pines department whose husband and daughter were killed during a recent home invasion. Dexter knows the blood expert from Kruger’s jurisdiction and goes to see him under the pretense he is working on paper about blood feathering.

The blood guy suspects that Kruger committed the crimes herself and pinned the murders on a Darius Rey, a perp she roughed up the day before. Kruger was shot twice herself and supposedly shot Rey on his way out of the house.

After Christine’s latest article outed the department’s cooperation with Lundy, Debra and Lundy are forced to hide from Maria while they work on the Trinity case. They are trying to determine where Trinity will strike next. Lundy tells Dexter he thinks he’s about to catch Trinity.
